Operating systems have features that can keep the system stable so a PC can run smoothly. One of these is that the user can access a menu that allows them to track performance and usage of the hardware and the software. Because of this the operating systems can stay stable and run to their best performance. This feature also allows the user to see if their is a problem, e.g. a driver might be missing, if this is the case then it may make the operating system less stable but the user can either try to resolve the problem themselves or ask for help online or from the operating system company, e.g. Microsoft.
