Security
Operating system security is about providing protection to computer hardware such as the memory, the hard disk drive, software programs and files/ information that is stored on the PC. A lot of damage can be caused to a PC if someone was to gain access to someone else's PC, this is why PCs have security to protect against harmful programs, like viruses or worms. The operating system require some forms of security that can be used to protect against attacks like this. One form of security is authentication, this makes it so people who aren't allowed to access the PC, because their username and password are not recognised, cant go further then the login screen. Another example of a type of security is programs like anti-virus and disk clean up, which essentially are used to scan, detect and remove any harmful program that is on the PC and any useless files that may contain a harmful program.
