Scanner

A scanner is a peripheral, electronic device that is used to place document/ images and other files into another device, e.g. a  computer, it does this by scanning what has been placed on the surface of it, then it just converts it into digital content which can then be used/ manipulated on the computer. Scanners also have resolution features, which shows how many pixels can be detected and how detailed the document has been scanned.

Bit depth is how much information is given to every single pixel. For example a b&w/ gray scale will have 256 bits of data per pixel. A colored scan would have a lot more pixels as there is more detail. Dynamic range is to do with the lighting and how dark or light the shades of colors are, because of this overall the digital data will be a lot clearer and more vivid.
