Hobbyist Web Café

Software to be used:

The web cafe would only need basic software that can be used by different people to complete different tasks. They would also need a basic internet connection so things can be researched and also some simple utility software such as anti- virus software and a firewall, so that people information is protected from harmful programs and viruses.

Network sharing needs:

The systems in the cafe will need to be connected to the internet so that the basic programs and files can be checked and installed onto all of the PC's at the same time. A link to a central server may be needed so that users can back up their data easily onto the server.

Need for maintenance contract:

There may be a need for a maintenance contract or program on the PC's as some user who are using the computers in the cafe, may not know what to do in some situations. And there needs to be someones there to help people with common problems that occur, such as WI-FI connection issues or performance issues.

Outputs required:

Standard monitors will be needed so that user can actually operate the machines in the cafe. And headphones so that users have more privacy and isolation with what audio they are using/ listening to.n And Ethernet ports will be needed to share data with the system and its internet.

Need for integration with other systems such as home entertainment:

Each computer in the cafe needs to integrate with each other so that when software is installed/ updated it affects the whole system and not just one computer in the cafe. Also it will be a lot easier to maintain and shut down each computer in the system so that it is done at the same time to save time and electricity. The computers/ devices also need to connect to the cafe's WI-FI and the connection for the WI-FI needs to be strong and work.

Processing power:

The system wont require a huge amount of processing power as costs needs to decrease not increase. also the computers are only used for daily tasks such as sending and receiving emails, and very light gaming so not a lot of processing is needed therefore the processing time, overall is low as they aren't performing massive tasks. And very few people will actually game on them as they aren't designed for gaming, just general use.

Storage capacity:

There only needs to be enough space for different basic programs such as firewalls, and other addons that help the PC's run. as well as files that users need such as browsers and pre-installed games and entertainment programs.

Accessibility for disabled users:

On each PC, there should be different options that will help the disabled use the PC's. such as enlarging the text and images that appear on the screen, to the user. And also the option to change the colour of the screen as some users may have an issue with seeing the screen properly.

The ICT competence of the intended user:

The staff at the cafe need to have enough skill in IT to be able to report any problems to the maintenance team

but they don't need the knowledge or competence to fix the issue/issues by them selves as it would waste time as users aren't expected to create such problems.

Training requirements:

The workers at the cafe wont need to much training as not many problems should occur and only basic tasks are going to be done on the machines. But they may need some training in turning the systems on and off when it is needed and also how to fix some simple problems that occur. But he maintenance team can come into the cafe every now and then to check on the system to make sure that its running smoothly.

Cost:

Overall the cost of the machines wont cost too much as they are basic systems and nothing technical at all, but he thing that will cost is the licences for the program that are installed on the PC's, such as the operating system, e.g. window and the anti-virus software, e.g. Norton security.
