Most operating systems cost quite bit of money, however if the operating system is continuously stable and regularly updated then it shouldn't be too much of an issue as they should last for a while, however this is only the case if the user stays with the same operating system. Each operating system is available in different versions for different types of people, e.g. home which is better for the person who just wants the basic version of it however there are other versions like professional and business which come at a different price.
